Postdoctoral Fellow position in
Artificial Vision and Real-Time Systems (AVIRES) Laboratory

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Udine
(ITALY) in the area of computer vision with focus on Sensor
Reconfiguration for PTZ camera Networks.

*****Qualifications*****
Person who has a PhD degree with a background in Computer Vision would
be eligible for this full time position.

*****Job Description*****
This position will be partially responsible for the research to be
conducted within a funded scientific project. The project aims to study
and develop algorithms for the automatic reconfiguration of video
sensors for monitoring active environments. In particular, issues
related to the reconfiguration of a network of nodes for monitoring
large areas will be considered. The study of techniques for sensor
reconfiguration is in fact of considerable importance to improve the
cognitive abilities of the surveillance systems. For example, the
detection of undesirable behavior in the scene may require the
reconfiguration of one or more sensors (orientation, level of zoom,
etc..) to acquire additional information about a particular entity.
Therefore, the main objective of the proposed research program is the
definition of an algorithm for the optimization of resources (moving
cameras) in the field of video events detection. The goal will be
achieved through the achievement of two milestones: (i) detection and
tracking of the object, (ii) configuration parameters of the mobile cameras.
The candidate will benefit from the research team skills and will be
able to work with the top-notch technology.

*****Selection criteria/ Preferred qualification*****
The job requires developing real-time computer vision algorithms. Good
knowledge base in camera geometry is preferred. Experience in
programming languages such as C++ and MATLAB is highly desired. The
successful applicant will be able to conduct solid, independent
research.

*****Timeline and Application Procedures*****
The position is open. The salary is competitive and
almost tax free (22816.91€ gross). The initial contract is one year with
