Advances in Human-Computer Interaction Special Issue on Vision-based Interaction
We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles to achieve a deeper understanding of how recognized visual information is best utilized for interaction purposes.
This special issue aims to go beyond the state of the art in vision-based interaction; this includes an understanding of how vision-based interfaces would fit into user activities in different contexts. In this sense, we are interested in applications of vision-based interaction where function is evaluated in terms of the user goals, system efficiency, and integration.
Topics:
- Applications of vision-based interaction (vision-based interaction games for rehabilitation, vision-based applications for accessibility, vision-based interaction for entertainment, vision-based interaction in advertising, vision-based interaction in formats such as desktop applications, large displays, and mobile devices)
- Conceptual frameworks for developing vision-based interaction (or interaction design for vision-based applications, what are the best human gestures for interacting with computer applications?)
- Human motion analysis in the context of HCI (what human motions can be recognized in real time? How to recognize human gestures from human motions?)
- Affective computing for interaction (how to recognize the user affective state form the visual information? How this affect recognition can be used for interacting with computers?)
- Integration of context in vision-based interaction applications (how the application context can be used in order to define the interaction design? How the context information can be used to recognize human motions?)
- Specifications, performance metrics, and test methodologies for usability evaluation of vision-based interaction (how to evaluate the usability of vision-based interaction applications?)
