Postdoctoral Scholarship (2 years) in Immersive Interaction


The Department of Applied Physics and Electronics have today approximately 100 employees. The main tasks are research, education and collaboration with the society. The department has approximately 700 full-time students per year in study programmes in civil engineering, electrical and computer engineering, electrical power engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and media technology. For research within the field of 3D vision and mixed reality for mobile interface, we are now offering a postdoctoral scholarship to a person with competence in 3D Computer Vision, Sensor Fusion, Visualization, Human-Machine Interfaces, and/or Machine learning, especially for application and/or system development for mobile interfaces area. The successful applicant is expected to have a strong academic background in at least one of these areas, as well as a sincere interest and relevant competence to contribute to any of these areas. Our focus is on 3D visualization, 3D rendering and interaction mobile interfaces using computer vision and pattern recognition techniques. Proven ability to work independently and experience from analysis are considered to be important assets for this position.

The scholarship is aimed for full-time post-doctoral research work, and to be performed jointly with senior researchers and PhD students in the group, as well as with our collaboration partners. Coordination tasks within large-scale projects may also be included.

Requirements
To be qualified for the scholarship, you must have a PhD (preferably not more than three years old) in 3D machine vision, machine learning, interaction design or a related area, and an outstanding research record. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English are required.

  • A copy of completed PhD thesis.

  • Copies of a maximum of 5 original research publications. If these publications have several authors, the contribution made by the applicant should be made clear.
  • Contact information to 3 persons willing to act as references.
  • Any other information relevant for the position.
